The stadium lawn adopts cork rather than synthetic balls

Redone the last time in 2002, the restoration of the synthetic of the football field began Monday January 3rd… But not only! Piles of piled up coating layers, public works machinery, temporary barriers… The sports area no longer has its usual appearance for a few months. Indeed, the land is completely redone; the lighting and the fence are changed.

"After removing the synthetic, they will remove the gravel to redo the bottom of the form: the slab on which the ground rests, 40 cm thick, treated with lime", explains Régis Guy, the president of the club.

Then, it will be necessary again "to fill with gravel (15 cm thick), to lay drains which will throw the water into the Cantarelle, a layer of flexibility, then the synthetic lawn, weighted with sand, will be filled with cork ".

Whether for cork, which replaces synthetic beads or the choice of LEDs for lighting, "these are ecological choices to stay in line with our policy. The underlay will be recycled", specifies Fabrice Guin, deputy to the mayor. The two men agree to say it: "It was a necessity after twenty years of existence".

For this, the town hall "will have many subsidies. We are happy and proud of the achievement", declared the delegate for sports life.

In the meantime, training takes place on the lawn of the rugby and American football field. Seniors are also welcomed free of charge in Saint-Mathieu for their matches. "We thank the club and the municipality for making their land available. This new land should allow the club to experience a new boom", enthuses Régis Guy who, in the meantime, is putting his hands in the dough so that everything goes as well as possible.
