The desire to undertake French stronger than the health crisis

After the crisis, a new generation of entrepreneurs

First associative network for financing and supporting creators, buyers and business developers, Initiative France organized a national survey from October 13 to November 8, in which 1,565 entrepreneurs, funded and supported by the network participated.The results of this survey have shown that today for many entrepreneurs, to become your own boss remains the primary motivation of project leaders (47%), far ahead of the taste of undertaking and the desire to face newChallenges (20%).Thus, for almost half of the respondents, being independent and its "own boss" is the first reason for creation or resumption, far ahead of the reasons for loss of employment or prolonged unemployment.Among these entrepreneurs surveyed, 30 % are in professional retraining, and 37 % of them are over 45 and 34 % are women.

If ensuring your own job is the main objective of TPE leaders, 45 % of them also plan to recruit within 12 months, especially in the following sectors: education, health, social action;business services ;construction-btp.Note also that the health crisis has influenced young people more in their decision to undertake and that for 30 % of them, the crisis acted as a "click".

Entrepreneurs committed to the environment, digital and their territory

This survey has also highlighted, the will of entrepreneurs to respond to ecological challenges and to get involved in the local economy through an ecological revolution of VSEs.Indeed, 71 % of the entrepreneurs interviewed considered the ecological impact of their company when structuring their project (vs.57 % of all entrepreneurs, interviewed in December 2020).All sectors are affected by the ecological transition, particularly farmers and industrialists.New corporate projects therefore target above all a local and local clientele (68 %).46 % of under 30s see the creation of jobs on their territory as an important element of their life as a business manager.

One of the direct consequences of the COVVI-19 crisis in business life was the adoption of digital.The increased use of technologies to continue working and developing its activity has proven to be an essential asset to perpetuate its activity during confinements.The crisis has changed the eyes of digital entrepreneurs: more than 3/4 of them are now more important to their digital strategy (vs.1/3 of all entrepreneurs interviewed in December 2020).Digital is not the prerogative of young people and concerns all categories and most sectors of activity, starting with the hotel and restoration, education/health/social, services to individuals and businesses.The urgent need for action in the face of the pandemic has given businesses the opportunity to innovate and accelerate their digital transformation to respond to the critical effects on their activity.Companies that have been able to undertake their digital transformation before the crisis are not surprisingly those able to anticipate their less agile competitors today.

Confident accompanied entrepreneurs, but aware of their limits

During this survey, 93 % of those questioned consider that they were sufficiently prepared to become entrepreneurs.For 60 %, the life of a business manager corresponds to what they had imagined at the start.The feeling of isolation is a minority and circumscribed at certain stages of the entrepreneurial journey, especially in the months following the launch of the company (45 % sometimes feel or often isolation).Support needs vary strongly depending on age: those over 45 say they miss professional network, while those under 30 express a strong need for support in the months and years following the launch of their activity.

The lessons of this survey for the Initiative France network

Strongly anchored locally with 210 associations spread across French territory - metropolitan and overseas, the Initiative France network welcomes entrepreneurs each year, assesses their project, and finance by an honorary loan without interest or guarantee and supports themby making them benefit from support by other business leaders and by allowing them to access a local economic network.The results of this survey, the third carried out by the network in two years, is precious for the development of its 2022-2025 strategic project.Indeed, they redefine the partition to take in the years to come, but also how to better support entrepreneurs at the various stages of their journey or even define the role for salaried and volunteer teams.Themes which are currently the subject of a consultation of all the stakeholders of the network, and will lead to the general meeting of June 30, 2022 and the adoption of the new strategic project.

In 2020, Initiative France supported and funded the creation or resumption of 15,042 companies by 18,400 entrepreneurs.These companies have created or saved more than 40,000 jobs.The network brought 177 million euros in honor loans to entrepreneurs, which allowed them to obtain 1.3 billion euros from banks.The sustainable corporate sustainability rate is 93% at three years.
