AQUATIRISPhytoflottante: floating sanitation for barges

For lack of a common and accessible solution, waste water from houseboats is most of the time discharged directly into waterways. Following the awarding of the Olympic Games to Paris in 2024, during which events will take place in and on the Seine, local authorities are seeking to find solutions to improve water quality.

The city of Port-Marly (78) and the Intercommunal Syndicate for the Sanitation of the Saint Germain-en-Laye Region have chosen to call on the specialist in phytopurification, Aquatiris. Thanks to research and development work, he proposed the Phytoflottante: a floating adaptation of the manufacturer's Drainage Garden. Two barges were equipped with a floating and vegetated annex, moored using a brace mounted on pivot. All the water reaches the reed filter via a pump. Solid matter is retained on the surface and forms an odorless deposit that composts over time and nourishes the plants. The liquid part slowly infiltrates the bed, made up of mulch, sand and gravel, before being released into the natural environment. The roots of the plants serve as bacterial support. For the moment, French regulations accept direct discharges of effluents into waterways and canals, but not into lakes or ponds. With this invention, Aquatiris hopes to set a precedent.

Sludge

THE POITEVINE FILTRATION COMPANY (SPF) AND CHOQUENETHygienization of sludge for spreading purposes

The Société Poitevine de Filtration (SPF), with the collaboration of Choquenet, has developed equipment and a process for dewatering sanitized sludge, which can be normalized with no polymer. It is a vacuum filtration table which looks like a draining table on which is added a vacuum box placed under the filtering belt. The sludge conditioned by mineralization (ferric chloride + lime) without polymer is distributed over the filter belt by continuous gravity flow. The level of dehydration can be adjusted by vacuum level and feed rate. The table makes it possible to obtain sludge structures varying from liquid to solid depending on the constraints of the elimination process.

The applications of the equipment relate to thickening for liquid spreading with an adjustable structure depending on the spreading equipment used, dewatering for elimination in solid form by spreading, composting or controlled storage or thickening upstream of a filter press

ARCADISBénéfriches: a tool to quantify the benefits of the conversion of polluted wasteland

The ambition of zero net land take, set out in the 2018 biodiversity plan, invites land-use planning players to review their models. It is in this spirit that Arcadis has developed Bénéfriches, a tool to assess the socio-economic and environmental benefits of brownfield conversion.

Designed on behalf of Ademe, this tool is available free of charge on the agency's online media library. A report recalls the issues and presents the general methodological framework of the tool. A notice is used to help stakeholders prepare their project, in addition to a reference system to assess the direct and indirect effects of land conversion. An Excel spreadsheet offers calculation tools to know the relative and collateral effects of the project: on the cost of water treatment, the carbon environment, the impact on the price of land, etc. After having completed the necessary information, the project leader will be able to estimate the total provisional expenses of the operation and the revenue and resources that this may bring in. In the case sheets offered, we learn that the conversion into an eco-district 'a former industrial wasteland on the territory of Bordeaux Métropole has made it possible to avoid carrying out a peripheral project on agricultural land, for a net socio-economic benefit of €20.4 million.

Drinking water

ANTEAAntea Group supports water services in the development of the WSP

With the strengthening of European regulations, the Plan Management of Drinking Water Sanitary Safety (PGSSE) should eventually be made compulsory for drinking water production and distribution services. This plan makes it possible to reduce the risks of degradation of water quality throughout the drinking water supply chain. It is based on the implementation of preventive and corrective measures, which first involves the collection and processing of a large amount of data.

To help water services implement this plan, Antea Group has a proven methodology, a data acquisition and valuation scheme adapted to the challenges, as well as specific software interfaced with the service information. The approach specifies the additional data to be acquired, including when on the move via smartphones or tablets. Their software makes it possible to structure the knowledge acquired, produce dashboards and present visual and educational aids for the evolution of risk management. Antea Group also offers data analysis tools based on learning models from of artificial intelligence. These make it possible to identify deviations from the drinking water supply system, such as sensor faults, leaks or degradation of water quality. The PGSSE implementation process thus enables real deployment of continuous service improvement.AYORA 100% French innovation in water filtration< /b>

2020, innovation differently - The EIN Review

Along with chlorine, chlorine dioxide is the only residual treatment approved for the treatment of water intended for human consumption. Being very reactive, it must be generated on the spot but that supposes to implement certain precursory products which can present risks. Faced with this, Minerve Technology's R&D engineers have developed the CATSy process for Catalytic/Chemical Advanced Treatment System: a process for generating ClO2 at high yield (> 98%) and at low concentration which avoids the formation of by-products.

This young company has developed CATSy from an exclusive process intensification process. This makes it possible to generate a ClO2 solution without degradation, even in the case of discontinuous treatment. Perfectly controlled, the reaction produces ClO2 on demand, which eliminates the need for the potentially dangerous storage of antagonistic reagents such as chlorite and concentrated acids. The process makes it possible to transform a solution of chlorite into a solution of ClO2. Catalyzed, the production of ClO2 is acid-free. It is thus possible to produce on demand a high purity solution that can be injected into the water circuits to be treated. WATSHEPProducing water from the humidity in the air

Faced with the growing problems of accessibility to water, the young company Watshep offers atmospheric generators of drinking water. This equipment reproduces the natural process of rain to provide clean water, without negative impact on the environment.

These generators can produce from 20 l to 24,000 l per day. The technology just requires an electrical connection to condense air and cool it to create water. It can also be associated with solar panels or small wind turbines to respond to isolated sites. This drinking water generator system has multiple applications. It makes it possible to deal with a drought or to supply water in places inaccessible to traditional networks such as offshore installations, mines or quarries. It is also effective for providing emergency water after a natural disaster or for populations affected by war, displaced or in need of water.

Rainwater

AQUALITYAqua-Control supplies buildings with rainwater

Aquality offers a range of solutions for recovering rainwater and recycling gray water. In its offer, it has the Aqua-Control system, a compact unit integrating a booster, a control interface and a drinking water make-up system.

The units are designed to adapt to all possible configurations and in all types of buildings, with underground or above-ground tanks. The control unit monitors the level in the storage tank and in the disconnection tank. Thanks to the double pump, the rainwater is transferred to the tank and then pumped to the applications as needed. In the event of a lack of rainwater or manual switching, drinking water automatically feeds the disconnection tank, in accordance with the EN 1717 standard on the protection against pollution of drinking water in networks. The automated solenoid valve s opens regularly in order to purge the drinking water pipe and to avoid any stagnation of water in the network. Pre-filter cleaning is also automated. For quick and easy installation, all electrical connections are made on one side of the unit. During maintenance operations, the unit can be manually switched over to the AEP. The Aqua-Control 5000 model can be completely tailor-made to integrate all the particular specificities of a project.GREEN CITY ORGANIZATIOND'Rain retains macro-waste dumped at sea

With each rainy episode, coastal agglomerations dump waste, plastics and other pollutants directly into the sea via rainwater, terrestrial or underwater outlets. Thus, 80% of macro-waste discharged into the sea comes from land.

Developed by Green City Organisation, D'Rain is an innovative solution that acts at the interface between the city and the sea. To capture waste, a net is attached to the outlet using a patented collar, equipped with real-time monitoring system. This equipment makes it possible to retain waste up to 5 mm in diameter, without loading the network. Thanks to a transmission system, the data collected is sent by the sensors directly to the user's phone, to know how quickly the net fills up, when it is full and if it is necessary to empty it. Green Caps capsules are inserted from the surface and allow the absorption of pollutants and chemical molecules contained in seawater, in particular hydrocarbons, heavy metals and drug residues, which makes the device operative even when it is not raining. The installation and maintenance of the devices are carried out by qualified personnel from Green City Organisation, capable of intervening in hyperbaric environments and difficult to access.MACCAFERRIMaccaferri launches the MacGrid CE 40S geogrid

TenCate AquaVia is specifically dedicated to the challenges of depolluting rainwater with, among other things, its TenCate GeoClean® solution.

This oil-depolluting aquatextile naturally eliminates the hydrocarbons present in runoff water which infiltrates the ground and thus makes it possible to reduce diffuse pollution in addition to decentralized management techniques at the source which preserve the natural water cycle thanks to to local infiltration. This solution, which requires no maintenance, infiltrates water instantly thanks to its high permeability (10-2 m/s). By crossing the infiltration structure and in contact with the oleophilic filaments, more than 99% of the dissolved hydrocarbons are irreversibly fixed. The aquatextile then systematically and sustainably activates and stimulates their biodegradation by soil microorganisms with a very high yield. The treated water has a low residual hydrocarbon content (< 2 mg/l), avoiding chronic soil pollution. Designed and manufactured in France, the aquatextile is suitable for all infrastructures emitting hydrocarbons and also for decentralized stormwater infiltration structures than under permeable pavements.

The raising and lowering of the pump is thus controlled automatically by evaluating the workload of the electric motor, while the movement of the dredge in the working area is managed from dedicated Dragflow software. The DRPs are available in several versions of pumps and accessories, for a maximum production of 1,000 m3/h. Thanks to their small size, the remote-controlled dredgers can be transported and assembled easily. Their shallow draft design allows access in narrow and shallow basins, where it would not be possible to work with larger dredges.

VON ROLL HYDROA3DV-Mobile lets your pipes do the talking

VonRoll Hydro offers an innovative solution for on-site diagnosis of the status of network pipes. This service concerns all types of materials: cast iron, steel, polyethylene, HDPE, polypropylene and PVC. To do this, it suffices to store samples taken during routine network operations such as repairing leaks or installing a valve. When the quantity of samples defined upstream with the customer is reached, the A3DV-Mobile team travels with its mobile laboratory to precisely determine the state of degradation of the pipes.

The company provides in advance specific identifiable bags to store the waste. The customer just needs to place the sample of the pipe in the bag and indicate from the scan of the label the information relating to the network and possibly integrate photos taken during the intervention. On site, the analyzes are then carried out using a simple slice of the pipe. The pricing of the service is degressive according to the number of samples to be studied. The prepaid offer guarantees a price known in advance, with no surprises. As an option, A3DV-Mobile offers an environmental analysis of the street where the pipes are buried: electrical, geological and hydrogeological context, in addition to a soil analysis.

Veolia Water TechnologiesProducing type 2 demineralised water while being eco-responsible

For more than 40 years, the Aquadem demineralisation service from Veolia Water Technologies has been producing demineralised water at in many laboratories and industries. The second half of 2020 marks the development of the new unit

innovative Aquadem Option R. Based on ion exchange technology using regenerable resins, this unit produces, thanks to its recirculating operation, water with a resistivity > 15 to 17 Mohm.cm. The resin (mixed beds) retains almost all of the dissolved ions and therefore ensures the production of type II water (laboratory quality). A measuring device, equipped with a probe (or two depending on configuration, with or without temperature compensation), allows permanent monitoring of the quality of the water at the outlet of the demineralizer (a second measurement on the loop as an option) . This unit is composed of a circulator allowing the continuous polishing of demineralized water on the Aquadem demineralizers, thus guaranteeing at all times an irreproachable ionic quality and a UV 254 nm (germicidal effect) The main advantages of the technology reside in particular in the compactness of the unit, the high quality of production, the control of the quality of resins and reagents used for regeneration in the two production centers.INTEGRAL CO.Blubalance, a chemical-free solution that covers the water treatment needs of cooling towers

blubalance is a chemical-free cooling water treatment solution that helps to combat against scale, corrosion and biocontamination. The solution makes it possible to reduce micropollution linked to chemical products and to achieve an average of 30% water savings.

Its principle is based on a double electrolysis of water adjusted in real time by algorithm. By accelerating the natural reactions of water, blubalance achieves a dynamic balance between scale and corrosion. Thanks to this balance, the water is not corrosive and scale does not deposit in the network. In parallel, the active electrolysis of the biocide from the ions naturally present in the water.blubalance is a plug & play, fully digitized and whose maintenance is ultra-simplified. Adapted to different types of make-up water, the solution is a zero liquid discharge (ZLD) treatment system that allows manufacturers to reuse reverse osmosis concentrates, for example to reuse them in the cooling system.

Wastewater treatment

AXINEAxine launches in Europe its units for the degradation of organic pollutants by electrochemical oxidation

Axine's wastewater treatment systems use patented electrochemical oxidation (EOx) technology. These systems have the ability to oxidize and destroy a wide range of complex organic pollutants in industrial wastewater. Axine's EOx technology uses electrodes made from innovative catalytic materials, mounted in "stacks" of electrodes in reactors designed by Axine. Wastewater contaminated with organic pollutants is pushed through these reactors. A specific electric voltage is discharged on each anode/cathode pair. Organic pollutants are oxidized non-selectively directly on the surface of the anodes and indirectly by hydroxyl (OH) and other radicals. Organic pollutants are oxidized, mineralized and broken down into their basic chemical constituents which are N2, O2, H2, CO2 and CO. These traces of gaseous by-products present no risk and are released into the atmosphere. No hazardous chemicals are required and no liquid or solid waste is generated.

Axine's EOx technology and reactors are turnkey systems integrating electrical power, controls, heat recovery, gas recovery; designed for each specific application and configuration.
