PVC flooring: spoiled for choice! - House side

Design and practical, the PVC floor is displayed everywhere! Imitation parquet, tiled or patterned, there is something for everyone. We let you discover!

Resistant and hygienic, these floor coverings dare all decors, are pleasant to the touch and offer, for the thickest, appreciable comfort. They are called vinyl or PVC interchangeably, but it does not matter because they are always made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride). Capable of imitating parquet and tiling, they also know how to play with speckled or crackled effects when they are not relying on geometric designs or playful creations around a theme. We can install them in any room and renew them often because they are not expensive. Other advantages: their easy maintenance, the very low release of volatile organic compounds (VOC) during installation and the absence of joints leaving no room for the development of mould...

Their resistance depends on the thickness of the wear layer (from 0.20 to 0.60 mm) while comfort is linked to the total thickness of the material (from 2 to 4.5 mm); these indications are given on the packaging.

In an entrance, a corridor, it is the resistance that prevails. In a bedroom or a bathroom, we will rather look for comfort and a thick and soft covering. In a living room where passages are frequent, comfort and resistance are essential.

PVC flooring: tiles, rolls or planks?

The choice of patterns is more extensive with the lengths, available in 2, 3 and 4 m wide. The small widths adapt to narrow and small rooms, stairs, etc. For large rooms, it is better to opt for widths of 3 or 4 m which avoid fittings and joints. But beware, if the laying and transport of small width coverings is quite simple, it is less easy to handle large width rolls.

The tiles are available in 30 x 30, 40 x 40, sometimes 30 x 45 cm, and are packaged in easy to transport bundles. They are perfect for accurately calculating the quantity to buy and for custom-made. Some are even self-adhesive and repositionable. Last quality, the possibility of replacing a slab in the event of an accident (burn, encrusted stain...). As for the self-adhesive boards, they are laid edge to edge and allow you to afford a "parquet" of striking realism... with only a meter and a cutter!

PVC flooring: prices

- From 10 to 30 €.

- 40 to 50 € for the linoleum.

Linoleum

Composed of natural materials - linseed oil, resin, cork and wood flours, minerals, pigments and hessian - it is a coating that fits in with the times. Almost indestructible, it has bacteriostatic properties and does not fear nicks, snags or accidental burns. To increase the sound insulation, it is advisable to lay the linoleum on a cork underlay, unless an acoustic underlay is already integrated into the product.
